Sashiko & Patchwork Repair Workshop w/ TOAST + Upstate Diary

  • Renew Exhibition & Workshops 415 B Warren Street Hudson, NY United States (map)

In collaboration with TOAST + Upstate Diary, Germantown Laundromat is offering a series of Mending + Repair Workshops during the month of May! The second of this series is on Sunday May 21st:

Sashiko & Patchwork Repair with Anna Svoboda-Stel

Join our mending + repair specialist, Anna Svoboda-Stel, and TOAST to discover the art of visible mending. In this workshop, Anna will show you how to repair and restore your beloved clothing and homeware textiles – whether it’s a fraying pillowcase, a torn tea towel or a linen garment that needs some care. Using patches of leftover fabric from the TOAST production process, Anna will demonstrate how to mend holes and tears using traditional techniques including kantha stitching and sashiko repair.

This workshop is suitable for beginners. Mending materials and morning refreshments will be provided. Please bring along an item you would like to repair; alternatively you will be able to learn the techniques and create a small sampler.

Date: Sun May 21st , 10am – 12pm.
Location: Renew Exhibition & Workshops - 415 B Warren Street, Hudson NY
Tickets include mending materials and cost $15.
