Join us for a natural dye workshop in the backyard of the Germantown Laundromat. Participants will learn how to turn vegetable scraps from the kitchen into natural color! We will go through the steps of preparing fabrics for dyeing and make a handful of different plant dyes from veggies. Students will leave with an understanding of how to extract color from plants, dyed fabric swatches and a dyed bandana. No previous experience necessary, all supplies and materials are included.

Jamie Lyn Kara is an artist based out of the Hudson Valley. Jamie’s art practice focuses on telling stories through quilt making and fabric manipulation. She uses textiles as a medium to explore connection, memory, and place.

Jamie completed her BFA in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has shown her work both nationally and internationally.
